PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Responsible for developing and managing brand marketing and strategy for Fresenius Medical Care North America. Develop, champion and implement marketing initiatives to ensure the brand remains relevant to core audiences, supports the brand story and strengthens brand equity. Additional initiatives will involve the hardwiring of our brand narrative into our business operations, providing education and inspiration for employees and driving widespread adoption of the Fresenius Medical Care North America brand story. This position serves on the Marketing & Communications Leadership Team (LT).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside the Marketing & Communications Leadership Team to shape the overall brand marketing strategy

  • Lead projects with brand strategy, naming initiatives and agency resources to deliver best in class results in:

  • Brand strategy and equity management

  • Brand architecture, naming and portfolio alignment

  • Key messaging and positioning

  • Lead market development strategy that includes patient and partner segmentation work, acquisition and retention strategies and overarching brand building strategies

  • Build a long-term company portfolio strategy and lead cross-functional team to develop programs leveraging patient and partner insights

  • Communicate brand objectives and strategies to internal and external agency partners including creative briefs

  • Lead holistic team of internal and external partners for integrated brand campaign development - including ideation, insight definition, RTB work, customer research and claims development -ensuring a consistent audience experience (patients/partners/caregivers) across all marketing touchpoints

  • Lead communication architecture and messaging development

  • Conduct competitive, category and industry mapping regularly to keep teams on the forefront of the business landscape and to better inform our marketing and innovation

  • Establish agency annual scope of work, fees, workload and manage quarterly review process to ensure delivery of objectives within budget

  • Focus on the continuous improvement of internal processes, drive for collaboration across divisions, develop and mentor team

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director, Design serves as the head of design and art direction for the entire Fresenius Medical Care portfolio of products and services. You should be a strong leader and will be a driving force in helping the company innovate and integrate across all platforms. You will be responsible for building and maintaining visual creative cohesion across individual brands and channels and will partner with the other agency leaders to drive and evolve brand voice and look-and-feel for work executed internally, and partner with external agencies to be successful with projects that are assigned to them. You will actively help the Vice President, Creative & Brand Strategy create an integrated agency model and the ability to partner across agency lines and businesses, developing strong relationships with brand, divisions, products, and services. You should also be equally excited about our industry and brand and advertising industries, staying abreast of new trends.

This role will identify new creative opportunities for growth for FMC. They will not just “answer the brief “but develop the right solution for the ask. They will be well positioned to ensure synergies and effectiveness of campaigns from the top all the way through the funnel. The candidate will have a proven track record of launching major brand campaigns that have had a positive impact on brand perception as well as brand performance.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster and advocate for a culture of excellence across the organization as a loved and respected creative leader

  • Oversee Fresenius Medical Care brand design and partner with creatives, marketers, and product leaders to build cohesive brand systems across the customer journey

  • Lead and manage both in-house and external teams to ensure consistent and high-quality creative work

  • Inspire designers and collaborators with a customer-focused vision that connects project goals to company goals

  • Manage development of innovative campaigns in an integrated marketing environment

  • Work with project management and cross-functional partners to shape roadmaps and requirements, ensure teams and projects are properly staffed, and ensure a smooth creative development process

  • Recruit and retain top design talent, and meet regularly with designers to promote career development and growth

  • Be accountable for the output and quality of your team’s work and having an impact on the business

  • Manage development of innovative design solutions by driving design-led exercises and explorations

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a background in developing brand systems and integrated campaigns

  • Understanding of how to create cohesive working relationships between various organizations

  • Ability to develop and lead a world-class design team, including coaching, growing, hiring, and retaining talent

  • Understanding of how to implement advocacy for creative integrity while continuing to promote a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to interface and persuade C-level leadership

  • Ability to read a room

  • Ability to present and sell comprehensive creative campaigns to all levels of the organization

  • Experience leading with creative vision, purpose, and innovation to create work that people talk about and remember

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 10+ years in Creative Direction (art/design)

  • 3+ years as Group Creative Director or above

  • 8+ years leading teams

  • Strong understanding of digital, social, and broadcast channels

SUPERVISION:

EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree desirable

  • Concentrations in Management, Marketing or Advertising preferred

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 12+ years experience in marketing, brand, brand strategy and naming and brand implementation

  • Strong integrated marketing communications and creative development experience

  • Highly resourceful and exceptional problem solver

  • Experience in managing internal teams, agencies and freelance staff

  • Agency experience a plus

  • Direct experience managing complex projects that cut across large organizations

  • Experience managing external vendors and partners

  • Strong experience creating transformational communications plans focused on culture and leadership communication

  • Stellar ability to partner and work seamlessly across various groups/businesses

  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of management with tact, diplomacy and professionalism

  • Strong ability to tactfully influence and coach leadership on what is best for the organization

  • Values relationship creation and management with people at all levels of the organization

  • Superior program and project management skills – coordinating multiple players and parts
