POSITION: Staff Accountant - Full Time
DUTIES: Prepare accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances, providing insights for strategic decision-making. Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates and significant changes in general ledger accounts; writes narrative reports explaining findings utilizing generally accepted accounting principles. Advanced knowledge and practices of the fundamentals of accounting theory Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, (GAAP). Oversee general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Ensure accurate recording of transactions and timely preparation of financial statements. Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, payroll entries, and expense allocations. Research and resolve problems pertaining to financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with facility procedures and policies. Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Monitor and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy/compliance with (GAAP). Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including reviewing invoices, ensuring timely payments, and assisting with collections as needed. Prepare financial reports and schedules for internal management and external auditors. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes. Prepare and file tax returns, maintain accurate tax records, and stay updated on changes in tax laws. Develop tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liability. Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. Conduct audits and implement control procedures to prevent fraud. Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific regulations, such as HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and Medicare/Medicaid reporting requirements. Supervise a team of junior accountants and finance staff, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to accounting principles and organizational policies. Collaborate with department heads to resolve financial discrepancies or provide financial guidance. Participate in process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, healthcare revenue cycle, clinic operation, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the healthcare industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience with electronic health records software systems (e.g., Meditech, Paylocity, Strata, and other ERP systems). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with healthcare billing and reimbursement processes is a plus. CPA, CMA, CHCRS or CHFP certification is a plus but not required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: May require extended hours during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted. Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a TB test.
PREFERRED SKILLS: Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations. Advanced skill in the operation of various computer applications, standard office machines, utilize e-mail for appropriate communication and follow-up. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Advanced knowledge of financial management techniques; knowledge of prac ices and procedures for planning and formulating budgets and monitoring related expenses. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration. Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians or others in a professional manner.
WAGE: $27.83-$39.00/Hr
