This position can be located at our offices in the following CA cities: Los Angeles, Irvine, San Francisco, or Concord.

CDM Smith currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with extensive previous experience managing environmental planning projects to join and help lead our growing West Transportation Group. In this position, you will play a significant role in the management of complex environmental reviews and related projects for major transportation agencies in the Western United States. You will manage multi-disciplined project teams, develop more junior staff, prepare and manage the scope and budget for transportation projects, and assist with marketing and business development activities.

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith’s mission by:

• Gathering, compiling, and analyzing data across a broad range of disciplines for purposes of conducting environmental impact assessments under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and/or the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

• Utilizing land use, economic forecasting, population growth, and other related data to create basic to high complexity modeling and forecasting for Water Resources, Air Quality, and Environmental Impact studies and plans.

• Conducting analysis for CEQA and NEPA documents, other technical studies, and plans.

• Reviewing analyses conducted by junior staff or sub-consultants and recommend improvements/changes as necessary.

• Performing or overseeing field investigations, surveys, studies, or other research to compile and analyze data on environmental impacts of prospective land uses or development/infrastructure proposals.

• Collaborating with engineers, designers, clients, and sub-consultants to research, analyze, or resolve complex environmental impact-related design project issues.

• Reviewing land use plans for compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental and conservation laws.

• Escalating any legal compliance issues as necessary.

• Overseeing the preparation of CEQA and/or NEPA documents, including environmental impact reports or environmental impact statements; negative declarations/mitigated negative declarations or environmental assessments; categorical exemptions or categorical exemptions; and other related CEQA and/or NEPA documents, notices, and other materials

• Coordinating public outreach, including preparation of project information materials, presentations, and public meeting/workshop materials.

• Providing technical guidance, training, and mentoring to more junior staff

• Collaborating with sales and marketing staff to meet with clients and develop proposals in response to requests for proposals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.

• 10 years of related experience.

• PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification is required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).

• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Extensive transportation planning experience for public clients in the state of California

• Expertise/knowledge of CEQA and NEPA processes and requirements.

• Expertise in writing CEQA and NEPA documents for a variety of agencies and project types and sizes.

• Transit and Aviation CEQA/NEPA experience.

Additional Compensation:

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.

Pay Range Minimum:

$136,947

Pay Range Maximum:

$239,699

Please note that pay ranges vary based on geographic location.
