We are actively seeking a Controller to join our client, a prominent home-builder based in Walnut Creek, CA. If youre a seasoned leader with a passion for accounting and finance, this is the perfect role for you! As a Controller, you will oversee all accounting operations, including AP processing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, budgeting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition. You will work closely with the Operations team to report on project profitability, cash flow, and key financial metrics.

What Youll Do:

• Supervise, direct, and guide the accounting staff.
• Oversee daily accounting operations.
• Lead budget and financial forecast preparations.
• Coordinate internal and external reporting.
• Address technical accounting/tax issues to remain compliant.
• Support month-end and year-end close.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial transactions and reporting.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies.
• Liaise with the Operations team, providing financial insights and reporting on project profitability.
• Perform additional controller duties as needed.
• Occasionally travel to Nevada.

What Youll Bring:

• Proficiencyin equity accountingand investment accounting, particularly for handling tax-related work in California and Reno, including K-1 forms.
• Familiarity with Hyphen Solutionsto manage purchasing modules, interfacing with sales, and integrating into the Intact system for accounting.
• Experience with real estate transactions and land acquisition preferred.
• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller with 8+ years in accounting and finance.
• Knowledge in home building, construction, subcontracting, job costing, and business income tax reporting.
• Advanced degree inAccounting. CPA or MBA preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement creation, and familiarity with accounting software and MS Office.
• Strong organizational and management skills with a go-getter attitude.
