BAE Systems Navy Interior Communications Technician in Wallops Island, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking experienced Interior Communications Electronics Technicians with experience in performing comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance to be part of our dynamic team located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC), in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance on any of the following Interior Communications equipment:

  • Moriah

  • Synchro Switchboard

  • Synchro Amplifiers

  • Synchro Distribution Systems

  • DNDU

  • IOC

  • FODMS

  • GEDMS

  • NFCS

  • STC-2

  • STC-3

  • ICOMMS

Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing SKED program in accordance with the Navy s Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.

This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum education and years of related/relevant work experience: High School/GED and more than three years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on Navy Communication equipment. PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including:

  1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift

  2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift

  3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

  4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

**PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis

This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim clearance is granted.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired, but not required:

Active DoD Secret Security clearance

ETA Fiber Optic Installer certification

Micro-Miniature (2M) certification

Experience with network devices and understanding of Operating Systems preferably RedHat or UNIX

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $20800 - $416000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
