Goddard Space Flight Center Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration) (Direct Hire) in Wallops Island, Virginia

Summary The Headquarters/Goddard Space Flight Center Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Regional Information Technology Services and Solutions (RITSS) Division is responsible for providing a full range of IT and telecommunications services to support Goddard's geographical diverse locations. RITSS understands the needs of Goddard's sites and assists them with developing current and future IT solutions that align and integrate with the overall Agency IT architecture and strategic direction. Responsibilities Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Oversee range of IT and telecommunications services supporting Wallops Flight Facility, Independent Verifications and Validation Facility, Goddard Institute for Space Studies, White Sands Complex, and other Goddard launch and operational sites. Manage IT projects, develop and implement project management procedures. Integrates configuration management, IT security, IT architecture, infrastructure design, and systems integration aspects into IT project plans. Develop current and future IT policies and solutions that align and integrate programs, project, and organization's IT systems with the overall Center and Agency IT architecture. Plan and develop long-range objectives and milestones for IT projects that involve substantive, mission- oriented programs, such as projects implementing enterprise-level applications and/or changes to IT infrastructure. Serve as expert and advises on the application of new information technology, network, and security architecture implementations in the areas of computing, voice, data, and video solutions. Review proposed new systems, networks, and software designs. Resolve integration issue related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Supporting IT projects, IT systems integration, IT Federal security standards implementation efforts (e.g. HTTPS compliance, IPV6, or Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation [CDM]), or IT configuration management; Supporting programs or projects involving multiple operating systems associated with networks and IT security; Assisting with the use of launch range equipment/instrumentation systems or supporting launch range engineers and IT systems. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Supporting IT projects and IT systems integration; Assisting with the implementation of IT Federal security standards such as HTTPS compliance, IPV6, and Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) and supporting IT configuration management; Utilizing multiple operating systems associated with networks and IT security for specialized data and video communications; Utilizing launch range equipment/instrumentation systems and supporting launch range engineers and IT systems.
