The Opportunity

Goodman Manufacturing, a member of Daikin Industries is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Safety Ambassador position at our DTTP - Waller, TX location. The Safety Ambassador will be responsible for improving safety measures inside the lab by creating and maintaining high safety standards and expectations. The purpose is to improve the work environment while establishing a positive safety culture by identifying and correcting potential unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, processes, and ensuring employees are adhering to all Health & Safety policies. Daikin Texas Technology Park- has a footprint of 4.23 million square feet under a single roof, and is the third largest factory in the United States. May include in addition to;

  • Promote a culture of safety and safe work environment to reduce/prevent accidents and injuries by working in partnership with Leadership

  • Perform safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements

  • Ensure operations remain in compliance with new laws and regulations through continuing education and cooperation with the company Health & Safety department

  • Ensure adherence to regulations on health and safety in the workplace as well as ensuring that the facility remains in full compliance with OSHA and Environmental regulations

  • Conduct, lead, or advise/assist with accident investigations. Review safety incidents and notify leadership of results and recommendations

  • Create and maintain Job Safety Assessments (JSA’s)

  • Assist Continuous Improvement Supervisor with the implementation and improve of 5S practices

  • Assist with Continuous Improvement processes

  • Input, track and analyze accident information; identify trends, key problem areas, and provide KPI metrics to detect improvements

Nature & Scope:

  • Works within well-defined instructions

  • The Safety Ambassador role is a means of communication between employees and management on matters of safety and health. Uses established procedures and works in a designated location under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Has read and understands Daikin’s Health and Safety Rules

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with employees

  • Ability to understand and follow procedures, work instructions and company policies

  • Attention to detail and accuracy including good organizational skills

  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, self-motivated

  • Comfortable coaching employees

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Ability to use good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job

  • Competency with computers and related software – MS Office-Outlook, Word, Excel and additional database applications

  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and practices including PPE

  • Knowledge of forklift/reach truck operations and safety protocols preferred

Experience:

  • 2-5 years in related field

Education:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. The manufacturing area has high volume production with forklift traffic. Certain areas may have higher sound levels in which hearing protection is required.
