The Chemistry Department at Whitman College is seeking candidates for a one or two year position in General Chemistry at the rank of visiting assistant professor, beginning August 2024. A Ph.D. is required upon starting the position. The successful candidate will offer courses primarily in General Chemistry lecture and laboratory. The balance of the teaching load will be determined through consultation and could include other courses, depending on the candidate's expertise. The annual teaching load is five courses. Depending on resource needs and interest, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to pursue research projects involving undergraduate students during the academic year or during the summer.
