Grounds Maintenance Worker I -- Cemetery

Salary Range: $22.881 - $29.210/hour

The City of Walla Walla offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental health insurance. City paid $50,000 Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance plus voluntary Life and Long-Term Disability. Washington State Public Employees Retirement Program (PERS) II/III. City match up to 3% of base salary for deferred compensation (457(b)). Generous vacation leave, sick leave, and eleven (11) paid holidays plus 32 hours floating holidays annually.

[NATURE OF POSITION]{.underline}

Perform a variety of grounds maintenance work for the beautification of City parks and cemetery locations; plant, spray, fertilize, prune, irrigate, and maintain lawns, plants, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas; clean and perform minor maintenance of buildings and other park features; and assist with other grounds maintenance projects.

 

[REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS]{.underline}

High school diploma, or GED equivalent, plus one-year experience maintaining turf, shrubs, and operating related equipment. Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license. First Aid and CPR certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date. Pesticide license will be required within one year of hire.

 

[DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS]{.underline}

Graduate of an accredited vocational program in turf management or related field. Washington Backflow Assembly Tester Certification. Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification. Bilingual in Spanish.
