Job Description
The Research and Technology Intern is responsible for contributing to and testing breakthrough and disruptive innovations in a collaboration team environment.
Complementary Description
Utilize the paradigm deconstruction techniques to “think outside of the box”.
Apply the fail fast/fail cheap methodology to rapidly and inexpensively pursue innovation opportunities.
Complete data mining tasks and participate in “think tank” sessions on a recurring basis to generate breakthrough ideas and opportunities.
Collaborate with Safran engineers, research partners, industry partners, and university partners to generate breakthrough ideas and opportunities.
Develop novel manufacturing methods, techniques, and equipment for manufacturing next generation composites.
Fabricate and test composite prototypes and components.
Assist in the commercialization of inflation system components.
Take innovations from Technology Readiness Level 1 (idea) to Technology Readiness Level 6 (Functions Demonstrated in a Production-Relative Environment).
Create draft technical specifications and reports.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mechanical Skills
Must be able to use basic hand tools and be capable of creating and fabricating prototypes from various materials.
Language Skills
Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals related to materials and innovation.
Must be able to clearly and effectively present information to team members and management in English.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to perform engineering related calculations.
Computer Skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and 3D modeling software.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to analyze problems and identify the root cause.
Ability to make decisions based on facts.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work independently with little direction.
Must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Must have the ability to deliver to plan and deadlines.
Specificity of the job
Travel to Safran facilities, suppliers, external partners, conferences, and workshops recommended but not required.
