Yorktel is currently seeking a Design Engineer with deep and broad technical knowledge in the Video Conferencing industry. The ideal candidate should be an expert in AV, endpoint, and infrastructure hardware and software from AV, cloud, and Video Conferencing manufacturers. This pre-sales position requires the ability to architect optimized solutions for a wide range of customer requirements. Additionally, the candidate must have experience in designing solutions and the ability to convey their expertise to clients with a high level of competence.Duties & Responsibilities:Regularly work in a team with individuals of varying expertise.Influence internal and external customers to achieve mutually desirable outcomes.Understand customer pain points and make recommendations to internal parties and customers.Ensure resolution of any problems by working closely with the assigned team.Regularly communicate answers to complex questions and respond to detailed inquiries about technical issues.Protect all internal and external confidential information, utilizing discretion and judgment based on company policies and procedures.Provide engineering support to the sales team in a comprehensive, thorough, detailed, and time-sensitive manner.Interface intensively with clients and job sites to document customer requirements and job site conditions.Provide and document customer design based on client requirements and job site conditions.Work directly with clients, architects, consultants, and staff throughout the design development and delivery process with the support of the Lead Design Engineer.Develop Bill of Materials and Statement of Work for each job based on system design and customer requirements.Develop system design drawing sketches, including audiovisual system diagram flows, Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications, and operational capabilities narratives.Develop accurate job cost estimates for each job.Provide technical responses to customer RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.Work effectively and efficiently with support from other members of the Engineering team.Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records.Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades, and subcontractors.Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design projects.Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget.Develop and conform to company technical standards and practices.Correctly interpret multiple formats of technical specifications, schematic drawings, and architectural diagrams.Adhere to Yorktel policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneSkills & Abilities: High levels of professionalism and integrityStrong ability to collaborate with peersExceptional customer service skillsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong problem-solving skillsConsistently maintain a professional attitude and appearanceProficiency in using business computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)AV industry manufacturer certifications are desirableInfoComm CTS certification, with Advanced CTS-D certification desirableWillingness to pursue and attend additional training relevant to job performanceProficiency in video network infrastructure commissioning and support processesKnowledge of video and audio conferencing service standardsDemonstrated or potential proficiency in using AutoCAD, Visio, or similar diagrammatic software toolsKnowledge of audiovisual, videoconferencing, and IT products and applicationsEducation & Experience:1-3 years of experience in a pre-sales engineering role1-3 years of experience in customer serviceElectrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field is desirableAt least 2 years of related experience requiredTechnical certifications in the Audio/Visual industryExperience with collaboration technologies such as Teams, Zoom, and WebExAdditional Requirements: May require occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).Requires extensive sitting, standing and walking.Domestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area.Valid passport; International travel possible.Valid U.S. driver’s license.Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts.Must be willing to apply for security clearances, suitability, and other related clearances to be able to work at certain customer locations.Join us and you will enjoy an excellent salary and benefits package, including 401k and Flex 125 plans.We conform to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment opportunities and affirmative action.
