ASRC Federal Holding Company Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Wake Island, Hawaii

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island, a remote location 2,100 miles west of Honolulu (HNL).

This position will require that the employee work on site at Wake Island. Transportation from Honolulu, Hawaii to Wake Island will be furnished by government sponsored aircraft. Meals and housing will be provided by the program while working on the island. Employees will live in a dormitory housing environment and meals will be furnished daily through the cafeteria commissary. This role is perfect for someone who is able to remain away for long periods of time while working on island with occasional scheduled trips back to Honolulu.

Works with a wide variety of heavy equipment, as well as light and medium vehicles to support the Company's operations at Wake Island.

Essential Functions

  • Trouble-shoot and inspect equipment to diagnose malfunctions.

  • Evaluate extent of all equipment repairs and level of action required.

  • Communicate the repairs and level of action required to Equipment Manager.

  • Inspect and repair heavy construction vehicles and other equipment such as crawler cranes, skid steers, excavators, drills, dozers, hammers, backhoes, loaders, tractors, and other heavy equipment.

  • Adjust, repair, or overhaul engines and various components of engines.

  • Operate hoists, lifts, overhead cranes, hand tools and various other instruments to safely and effectively perform work.

  • Perform routine welding and fabrication work on heavy equipment as needed.

  • Maintain accurate service logs and records of maintenance, utilizing paper files and electronic maintenance software, and timely submit all necessary paperwork to Equipment Manager and Accounting.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.

  • Perform trade for long hours, day-after-day, often in adverse conditions, to complete the project at hand.

  • Work closely with a variety of other trades.

  • Perform shared cooking and cleaning responsibilities as necessary in the field quarters.

  • Report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically and profitably to the Company Safety Manager.

  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance procedures and processes.

  • Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and repair.

  • Working knowledge of manuals, schematics and diagnostics tools used for equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair.

  • Skill in operating a computer, utilizing a variety of applicable software programs.

Requirements :

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, secondary education or vocational/technical training in Heavy Equipment preferred.

  • Four years' experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance required

  • Prior welding experience preferred.

  • Ability to speak, write and read English

  • Ability to pass National Agency Check with Inquiries background investigation
