Salary Grade NC08 Salary Range $36,682 - $64,194

This position provides administrative support for the FMMU Production Office. Assist in the management of the Central Fleet Program for equipment used statewide as needed in emergencies or while fleet equipment is down for repair. Ensure Central Fleet equipment is well maintained and perform physical inspections of the equipment as it is ready for service or returned to the Central Fleet Inventory. Ensure that the rental hours of equipment used is accurate and applied properly. Identifying new equipment that requires upfit by outside vendors as part of the Annual Equipment Buy. Working with the vendor to ensure that the work being performed meets all contractual requirements and is completed in the time agreed upon in the contract. Inspecting equipment once the upfit process is complete to ensure that all work was completed as per the contract. Assist in the physical distribution and preparation process of new equipment, working outside, at times in inclement weather, climbing around and onto equipment to ensure that manuals and other related documentation are present. Direct contact with the public, vendors, and contract haulers making deliveries to DOT. Direct contact with DOT personnel picking up equipment. Assuring that documentation is in order and signatures are in place. Process internal office documents. Process vendor and manufacturers documents for the purpose of receiving, accepting, and initiating payment of invoices. Assisting with receiving new equipment and inspecting for damage prior to accepting delivery along with issuing fleet equipment purchased by DOT. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Experience working independently with vendors and other NCDOT personnel.

  • Knowledge of internal purchase requisitions and external vendor invoices.

  • Experience in computer software programs such as MS Office Word, Excel, the internet and Outlook/email.

  • Experience inspecting a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles and checking them in and out with customers.

  • Experience standing for long periods of time, working outside in varying weather conditions, and climbing around and onto equipment.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
