Ridgeview Medical Center Nurse Technician in Waconia, Minnesota
Purpose of Job The nurse technician performs delegated tasks of direct and non-direct patient care functions and other assigned tasks under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The designated tasks are those which have been taught in the nursing school and/or orientation and in which competency has been demonstrated within limitations imposed by state law for unlicensed personnel. Job Functions Inserts/Removes urinary drainage catheters. Changes dressings. Starts IV's. Discontinues INT/IV's. Discharges teachings (application, discontinuing of monitoring electrodes/devices) Reinforces patient education per direction of nursing staff. Participates in education activities that contribute to improved clinical competency. Reports all pertinent patient information to appropriate nursing personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Application acceptance during final semester of senior year Completion of senior year in Baccalaureate nursing degree program by start date Successful experience in clinical areas to perform the functions which are within the job description. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Basic knowledge of sterile technique and handling of sterile equipment Good customer service skills to facilitate appropriate interaction with patients and families Knowledge of basic patient care duties Knowledge of patient positioning to promote correct body alignment/padding Knowledge of personal protective equipment required for working with bio hazardous material Understanding and practice of patient confidentiality Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
