Group Sales Manager Job Summary

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for representing the AC Hotel Waco Downtown to customers and the public. This position will heavily focus on group sales within the collegiate market and sports market, including Baylor University travel and athletics, NCAA, Big XII, and youth sports. Responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in assigned market and producing revenue that meets or exceeds assigned quarterly revenue booking goals. Must meet or exceed assigned weekly outside sales calls, networking, and prospecting call goals. Listen to customer needs, analyze information, and create tailored proposals. Negotiate and close sales while meeting/exceeding sales targets. Impress customers with tailored proposals, quality, and timely service in a pleasant and friendly manner. May work with local sales and U.S. based account sales teams to drive production from targeted high priority accounts including maximizing business and relationships within the specified market segment.

The Group Sales Manager position is bonus eligible and participates in the company's quarterly incentive plan.

Education, Experience & Core Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years Hotel Sales Manager experience required

  • CI/TY/SFAWeb experience highly preferred

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Baylor University alumni or Baylor staff experience preferred

  • Highly comfortable with conducting outside sales prospecting calls

  • Lodging sales experience in either luxury, upscale, or lifestyle brands

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals or groups

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs

  • Current Marriott experience preferred

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Ability to conduct site visits with potential customers

  • Ability to drive/transport self and others

  • Ability to travel domestically

  • Make sound judgements quickly

  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines

  • Able to work independently, take direction and provide direction to others

  • Manage differing personalities with the office, the hotel and the community

  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality

  • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high pressure situations

  • Ability to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems.

Salary range $58,000 – $65,000 annually. Position is bonus eligible and participates in the quarterly incentive plan. Comprehensive benefits package including: medical, vision, dental, 401K with employer match, employee discount, and mileage reimbursement.
