We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Operations Automation Technician (3rd Shift) in Waco, TX.

Job Summary:

  • As an Operations Automation Technician (3rd Shift), you will lead or support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation and maintenance of facility automation. Specific areas of focus include automated storage systems, goods to person stations, autonomous vehicles, and robotics.

Additional Info :

  • This role is located in Waco, TX and does not offer relocation.

  • This role is 3rd shift: Sunday – Thursday 10pm to 6:30am

  • This role requires flexibility to flex shifts as needed (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift and/or weekends)

  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules

  • This role requires up to 15% domestic travel

What You Will Do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated solutions to drive process improvements and realize benefits utilizing automation.

  • Work independently and with diverse & multi-functional teams (operations, legal, purchasing, engineering, IT, etc.)

  • Identify technology and innovative methods to improve facility and supply chain efficiency and costs and drive continuous improvement throughout the entire facility

  • Collaborate with engineers globally to benchmark best practices, implement improvements, and make expert recommendations for automated solutions

  • Closely monitor automation system operations, metrics, and maintenance

  • Lead automation changes and modifications as required (example – automated vehicle route changes) and locally lead supplier & vendor interaction

  • Enable the installation and replication of robotic picking systems

  • Serve as the local expert on Human Machine Interface (HMI) functionality & statistics, Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), and general automation controls and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

  • Lead and administer training of local resources on safe and efficient use of automation and warehouse process execution

  • Participate and assist with automation deployments at other sites as required

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.Level Working Knowledge:• Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.• Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.• Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.• Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.• Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.

  • Mechanical/Machinery : Knowledge of machines and tools; ability to use knowledge of machinery or mechanical objects including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Level Basic Understanding:• Takes or has taken formal or informal training to enhance mechanical knowledge, skill and ability.• Performs repair and maintenance of personally owned tools and machines at home routinely, perhaps as a hobby.• Lists and describes the functionality of various machines and tools used in own industry.• Describes experiences with basic machinery (e.g. saws, drills, paint sprayers) involved in routine do-it-yourself projects.

  • Technical Troubleshooting : Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.Level Basic Understanding:• Describes problem identification, reporting and escalation procedures.• Explains the underlying concept of using a systematic approach to solve technical problems.• Identifies available resources and support systems for troubleshooting.• Describes common hardware, software, and communication problems; finds ways to resolve issues.

  • Knowledge of Robotics : Knowledge of designing, programming, and operating robots for various applications; ability to utilize programming languages and robotics knowledge to automate the necessary operations of the organization.Level Basic Understanding:• Identifies the basic components of a robot.• Describes the purpose of a robot in a given context.• Demonstrates how to operate a robot safely.• Understands the basic principles of robot programming.

  • Industrial Automation/Automatic Control : Knowledge of various industrial automatic control systems, processes and methodologies in a manufacturing environment; ability to design, implement and maintain automatic production systems/processes to improve productivity and efficiency, as well as minimize human intervention.Level Basic Understanding:• Cites examples of Industrial Automation applications in one's own manufacturing organization.• Describes Industrial Automation/Automatic Control concepts and features.• Lists where to obtain expertise and information regarding Industrial Automation methods and techniques.• Discusses major considerations and issues related to Industrial Automation

  • Understanding of Warehouse Operations and Warehouse Management Systems

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

  • Bachelor level degree, preferably in Engineering or Supply Chain. In Lieu of a degree, 2+ years of experience with at least three of the following areas: autonomous vehicles, automated storage and retrieval systems, robotics, advanced battery technology, warehouse automation, Lidar systems

  • Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work across functions to perform work deploying supply chain improvements

  • Strong priority setting, and communication skills

  • Be a strong team player in order to be effective in deploying supply chain improvements as part of a team

  • Experience in EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) or SAP

  • Demonstrated success in implementing warehouse operations improvement via new technology and processes

  • Previous experience managing capital budgets and implementing capital improvement projects

Summary Pay Range:

$71,040.00 - $106,440.00
