Job Description

The Sr. HR Manager is a strategic and trusted partner to the organization, in talent development, finding talent, and shaping culture necessary to accomplish our business strategies to make a remarkable impact on patients around the world. They will serve as a strategic partner to the Waco, TX Manufacturing site. This role is responsible for leveraging best-in-class HR practices to continually construct, deliver, and support programs that establish AbbVie as an employer of choice. The role will be expected to develop HR strategies, assess needs, and resulting HR solutions.

Note that this position is expected to sit onsite in Waco, TX 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary strategic partner to the business leaders and their organization, developing HR strategies, needs assessments and resulting HR solutions. Coach/mentor and consult senior leaders for leadership development, succession planning, and talent management.

  • Ensuring the effective “delivery” of all HR programs and services. Responsible for HR results in the business, including client satisfaction, HR effectiveness and associated results.

  • Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with key HR partners from all areas to ensure elements of HR are successfully coordinated to meet business needs, including relationship management, leadership, HR roles/responsibilities, and service delivery commitments.

  • Partnering with people leaders to shape our culture of high employee engagement, high performance and, diversity and inclusion.

  • Leading HR solutions and initiatives to find and develop talent while leveraging AbbVie’s best in-class HR practices. Develops recommendations to address resource and skill needs.

  • Facilitating, implementing, and modeling change to address organization effectiveness and the evolution of service provided to patients.

  • Prioritizing critical projects based on business needs and available resources. Ensure that day-to-day activities are moving forward.

  • Championing AbbVie ways of working with leaders by modeling, educating, and coaching on these behaviors.

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and Procedures.

Success Factors:

  • Must be able to understand and utilize historical and broad organizational data when weighing business HR decisions and actions.

  • Able to understand all the options available and the potential impact of those options across the respective business units, as well as within the larger AbbVie business models.

  • Have credibility with Senior Management to maximize successful outcomes.

  • Must be able to think creatively across a wide breadth of business segment(s) as well as deep into the respective organizations.

  • Identification of trends and new approaches to business processes should be both incremental as well as “ahead of the curve”.

  • Ability to work and influence in a matrix environment.

  • Clear and courageous in conversations; able to influence and coach. Not afraid to have a difficult conversation regardless of level or title.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Project management, change management or business experience.

  • Experience in conducting job evaluations, job and decision rights analysis and analyzing employee data to develop workforce strategy.

  • Significant breadth of experience in client area accountability; demonstrated expertise in achieving business results through people solutions.

  • Significant understanding of functional HR roles and responsibilities and impact on the business.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting the business preferred.

  • Demonstrated understanding of organizational development activity preferred.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​
