The Screedman will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the screed and to place the asphalt, per the required project specifications.
-Previous experience and knowledge of asphalt materials, and asphalt paving is preferred.
-High school diploma/GED is preferred.
-A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record is preferred.
-Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
-Must meet Knife River-South employment standards with regards to background/MVR checks.
-Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day time/night time).
-Ability to work outside in all seasons.
-Must have a “safety first” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required
-Promote a professional, positive image and attitude when working with the public, customers and co-workers.
-Perform daily equipment, maintenance and site safety checks.
-Prior to each shift ensure the screed is clean and properly adjusted for the type of paving to be completed.
-Monitor temperature settings to adjust the asphalt mixture continually.
-Adjust the screed paving reference components to the project specs, paving, width, depth (thickness), grade and slope.
-Ensure proper contact between gates and the paving surface. Adjust springs and chains for clearance.
-Be able to troubleshoot problems and make the necessary adjustments concerning the asphalt during paving operations.
-Assist the paver operator in attaching extensions to screed to adjust width.
-Assist paving crew with site preparation and any other activity as needed.
-Timely and regular attendance is essential.
-Perform other duties as needed.
