Job Summary
The Consumer Collector is responsible for locating and contacting clients who are delinquent in the repayment of their loans and obtaining payments, commitment agreements or establishing repayment plans with delinquent clients. The incumbent utilizes automated systems or goes out in the field to achieve direct contact with clients. The consumer collector records information about client’s financial and collection effort status. The incumbent confers with clients to determine reasons for overdue payment and reviews terms of sales and or loan agreements. May be responsible for initiating and facilitating the collection effort with legal entities.
Essential Responsibilities
-Performs outbound calls or receives inbound calls from clients who are delinquent in repayment of loans and negotiates resolutions of repayment while achieving the organizations performance and productivity standards.
-Advises clients of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.
-Accurately inputs and documents actions or plans for resolution into collection systems.
-Maintains up-to-date client contact information in the collections systems to ensure efficiencies with function; performs appropriate
action to locate delinquent clients when current information is outdated.
-Recommends to management and initiates legal action against clients, when necessary, to achieve the collection of or enforcement for overdue payments/delinquency.
Performs administrative duties to include but not limited to sorting and filing of correspondence; collection of data for the preparation of reports; and performance of system maintenance to update files and records.
-Performs such other duties as are assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Employee works under direct supervision with little discretion to vary how tasks are performed or scheduled.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required a considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. May be required to lift and move boxes or packages not exceeding 15 pounds in weight.
Work Environment
Employees in this job work in an office environment 80 percent of the time with a comfortable room temperature, good lighting, and quiet conditions. The employee is exposed to the external city/urban environment when performing any duties that require time or travel outside of the office.

Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma and 3 years experience in a direct customer contact, service, collections, or sales environment.
Must have valid driver’s license
