Job Description

The Department of Fine & Performing Arts at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks a fulltime Visiting Assistant Professor of Art (foundations) to begin in Fall (August) 2024. This is a 9-month appointment (Fall 2024-Spring 2025) with an opportunity for renewal. Primary duties will include teaching undergraduate foundation art courses including drawing, 2D design, and/or 3D design. The expected teaching load will be 3 courses per semester. Classes will consist primarily of studio art majors and minors. Other duties will be service to the Art Department including attending faculty meetings, assisting with gallery management, and community engagement activities.

Required Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have an earned MFA degree in studio art prior to the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. Successful candidates must have a portfolio of student work that demonstrates a proficiency in teaching the elements and principles of design.

Desired Qualifications:

Artists who have a hybrid studio practice using digital/traditional media including any of the following: animation, video, 3D modeling, and/or digital drawing. An interest in teaching a special topics course in digital arts or a hybrid digital/traditional course.
