POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Reinsurance Analyst will assist in the processing and management of the proportional book of business. This includes liaising directly with clients, underwriters, other departments and staff at all levels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Timely processing of pro-rata accounts and bordereaux in our policy management system.

  • Maintaining the integrity of operational pro-rata files and reporting to underwriting and claims the information contained within these files, as requested .

  • Liaising with brokers in a professional manner to obtain detailed information relating to the information presented in pro-rata accounts; this includes querying underlying information if discrepancies are noted.

  • Assisting with the allocation of headlined claim events to ensure correct flagging for retrocessional arrangements and actuarial reserving.

  • Verification of pertinent financial information that has been entered into our policy management system.

  • Verification of the calculation of loss sensitive payments (i.e. Profit Commissions/Sliding Scale Commission)

  • Completing the quarterly Estimated Premium Income review process which covers all in-force contracts that are recording premium using estimated figures and ensuring these figures are still accurate.

  • Assisting in the management of the pro-rata cash allocation process and highlighting problematic items.

  • Monitoring the pro-rata receivables balances and the following up with brokers/clients on the overdue balances.

  • Completing pro-rata account payments for balances due to the brokers/clients.

  • Other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least two years prior experience in the insurance or reinsurance industries preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.

  • Evidence of progression towards accounting or industry certification, (ARe, CPCU) preferred.

  • Knowledge of structure of underwriting files and previous exposure to reinsurance contracts, treaties and reinsurance markets preferred.

  • Experience in SICS would be an asset.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications.

  • Proven problem solving ability, demonstrated efficient use of other resources and ability to self-manage and not required constant supervision or feedback to complete tasks.

  • Proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential.

  • Must be flexible and able to prioritize and often reprioritize in line with deadlines/targets.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills i.e. a thorough command of the English language; including excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation.

  • The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.

  • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays if necessary.
