Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aSr. Director Advanced Manufacturing Engineeringto join theData Center Power & Control Division Teamremotely. This is a global role, crucial for DPC’s strategic development and operational excellence, focusing on cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and sustainable practices. This position is to provide leadership, vision, and strategy in establishing an Industry 4.0 strategy for the DPC business, including capital expense, focusing on automation and autonomation opportunities. The incumbent will also be responsible for driving a robust New Product Introduction strategy (NPI) working closely with R&D teams to ensure new products are manufacturable and scalable where appropriate. Furthermore, the incumbent identifies and develops new manufacturing technologies, leading product transfers and a large focus on critical strategic Project/Program Management. The Sr. Director, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering will also ensure that the local teams have the proper resources, skills, and training to meet the business objectives.

Ultimately this role will be responsible for identifying and supporting Value Add and Value Analysis/Value Engineering productivity across DPC operations.

Travel: Up to 50%

What Will You Do?

  • Establish a DPC AME organization whilst supporting existing AME organizations from various DPC businesses.

  • Works closely with Engineering, EHS and Quality leaders to ensure technology meets the needs/expectations of Legrand standards and customer satisfaction.

  • Builds and manages a focused Program Management Team/Process that supports strategic programs across DPC and its associated businesses.

  • Drives processes, equipment and product strategies to meet the Corporate Social Responsibility expectations of Legrand, specific focus on safety, energy consumption, eco-design, sustainable material, single use plastic and circular economy. Will also support the Strategic Sourcing organization in the identification of sustainable materials.

  • Establishes short and long-term Capital Expense plan for core process equipment to include replacements and refurbish with a focus on Industry 4.0 including automation and autonomation.

  • Ensures in conjunction with R&D that DFM/DFA/DFX (Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Automation etc.) attributes are incorporated into new product designs where appropriate.

  • Supports manufacturing footprint strategies, leveraging DPC to optimal levels of utilization, labor, operating margins and ultimately ROI. This includes managing the capital procurement process, commissioning and sustained operations of production lines. Meets key standards of delivery equipment/tooling/molds/dies, while achieving maximum flexibility.

  • Drives Value Add & Value Analysis/Value Engineering productivity strategies across DPC businesses.

  • Establish a capacity modeling process for DPC sites including Contract Manufacturing.

  • Evolve DPC from reactive to proactive maintenance program, with a primary focus on condition-based maintenance of top critical assets, develops a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) competency model and leverage across the organization.

  • Develops smart proactive strategy models supporting both existing assets and the launch of new components, products, and processes.

  • Performs other duties as required.

    Essential Functions :

  • Directs Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to support the business with process improvements, procurement of equipment/tooling, facility remediation and other significant initiatives involving strategic planning and tactical execution as delegated by the VP, DPC Global Operations.

  • Responsible for the development of a short and long term Capital Plan.

  • Responsible for strategic project/programs across DPC Operations.

  • Leads VA & VAVE productivity strategies and supports teams through execution.

  • Responsible for the development of a TPM program (manufacturing/industrial engineering) across DPC.

  • Manages the development and deployment of an industrialization process to deliver new product launches with sound DFM/DFA/DFX process.

  • Leads the development and deployment of manufacturing and capital strategies, supporting DPC and LNCA.

  • Leads the competency development of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering talent for DPC.

  • Ability to work and influence in a Matrix Organization.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science, Industrial/Manufacturing/Operations/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical field, Master of Science preferred.

    Experience :

  • 10+ years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment with experience managing people and projects.

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Extensive Capital & Project Management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control several projects at various stages of work.

  • Extensive practical experience with predictive maintenance and good understanding of Industrial 4.0 applications.

  • Heavy analytical trouble-shooting skillset (RCA, 6-Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, etc.).

  • Experience with visual management systems.

  • Knowledge of personal computer applications required (Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint).

  • Visionary thinker and leader. Able to set a clear vision and inspire others toward achieving team goals. Demonstrates strategic foresight and innovative problem-solving,

  • Extensive Gemba based continuous improvement-based tools/techniques.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both senior management and shop-floor personnel.

  • Ability to assign priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment. Adjusts strategies and approaches in response to changing circumstances and challenges.

  • Ability to interpret manufacturing schematics and blueprints.

  • Able to mentor and facilitate lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance. Encourages and motivates through enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

  • Takes ownership of decisions and outcomes. Holds self accountable for performance and results.
