We are seeking an experienced Senior Network and Security Engineer to take on the role of Senior Software Engineer II. This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in networking, virtualized containers/appliances, cloud infrastructure, and web/HTTP protocols.

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and implementing secure network architectures for new and existing products

• Developing and maintaining security guidelines, procedures and standards that can be implemented across the product

• Evaluating and recommending network and security technologies that align with industry best practices and regulatory standards

• Identifying/mitigating network and security risks and threats in current product architecture and implementation, and suggesting remedies

• Reviewing code in languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C, C , and Go, and establishing standards/processes ensuring high-quality code

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

• Have good knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, and HTTP

• Demonstrate experience with virtualized containers/appliances on various hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and identity and access protocols/software

• Demonstrate experience with containers interfacing with Docker and Kubernetes

• Demonstrate experience in multiple programming languages - Python, Javascript, Typescript, C, C , and Go

• Demonstrate experience in analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $126,100 - $261,900/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
