The Sales Engineer - EPC is responsible for generating new business and ensuring future growth of specified SBD product lines and complimentary tools and accessories. They will accomplish this by working with EPC firms in the US to specify primarily fastening products, as well as with our sales team to assist contractors and distributors during the bidding, submittal and construction phases of key Industrial, Infrastructure and O&G projects. They will be responsible for the Spec to Sale process.

The Job:

  • Develop a strong technical understanding of specified products (under the SBD/DEWALT brands), how they are used in construction and how they are designed in accordance with current building codes

  • Establish relationship with key EPC firms/design teams in the territory

  • Influence designers, architects and engineers to specify fasteners through regular scheduled visits, education and technical communication

  • Assess potential application of company products and offer solutions to meet customer needs

  • Hold regular technical presentations and training seminars for design professionals related to the design of SBD/DEWALT products with a focus on testing details, product performance, characteristics, applications and code requirements

  • Use technical knowledge of products to support and build sales on specification and conversion in conjunction with local sales team and provide technical job-site support as needed

  • Provide assistance on proprietary technical anchor & hanger design software to clients and communicate customer feedback for future product developments

  • Ensure that designs and submittals generated by contractors are approved by architects and engineers

  • Research and present reports showing potential customers the cost benefit of purchasing company products

  • Embrace and become versed in construction technology and future trends influencing the specified fasteners business such as Building Information Modeling, Integrated Project Delivery and construction software.

  • Develop and maintain client records in CRM tool

The Person:

  • Impeccable communication skills – both spoken and written – mandatory

  • Able to handle multiple priorities, organize, plan, and meet difficult deadlines, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Working knowledge of computer applications including BIM, MS Office suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with Salesforce.com is a plus

  • Technical sales experience required

  • Industrial Design and jobsite experience

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred, EIT Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in design engineering, technical support or technical sales role

  • EPC, Industrial Industry experience required

Travel Expectations: Up to 70% of time traveling within territory
