Job Description:

Summary

The College of Engineering at Iowa State University is seeking a Senior Manager Budget and Finance to serve as the college’s Chief Academic Fiscal Officer.

The Academic Fiscal Officer will be primarily responsible for managing the college’s financial operations, including oversight of financial health, reporting, and training and development for financial staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of the budget and finance operations of the college, including allocation of budgets and other resources

  • Long- and short-term strategic planning, forecasting and reporting

  • Leading the College of Engineering Strategic Finance Team in accomplishing college goals and strategic initiatives

  • Coordinating endowment resources with the ISU Foundation

  • Representing the college at the university level on various aspects of Budget/Finance, including financial systems and policy implementation, capital projects, and audit response

  • Development and maintenance of business intelligence tools, data, ad hoc reports and presentations to support college administration

This position reports to the Dean and serves as a member of the Dean’s Cabinet and Senior Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fiscal operations theories, principles, and methodologies, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. A solid knowledge of fund accounting, university financial policies, procedures, and systems, along with proficiency in computerized spreadsheets and databases is essential. All staff members are expected to foster a collaborative work environment and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
