The Fiction team for HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus prides itself on strong author relationships, award-winning content, bestselling books, and a cohesive team environment and is currently seeking a Senior Digital Manager. The team manages Thomas Nelson Fiction and Harper Muse titles and publishes both Christian and general-market novels by bestselling authors such as Charles Martin, Colleen Coble, Terri Blackstock, Courtney Walsh, Melissa Ferguson, Katherine Reay, Marie Bostwick, and many others.
The Senior Digital Manager will plan, execute, and manage all paid digital campaigns for frontlist and select backlist titles, across consumer-facing social and e-commerce platforms. The focus of this role is to execute and maintain highly effective paid ad campaigns and to continually optimize them through testing, keyword analysis, bidding strategy, etc. for best performance. This position will also be responsible for the ROI analysis and reporting of results for each campaign, to ensure they are driving sales and growth that will meet the defined monthly and annual revenue goals.
Between the two imprints, we release approximately 45 new frontlist titles per year across multiple genres – allowing a Senior Digital Manager ample opportunities for creative and dynamic new product launches and continual variety. This manager will be able to own the paid ad process from start to finish – set strategy, execute campaigns, report on campaign data and interpret the findings, and use those learnings to inform future campaigns.
Our preference is to fill this position in Nashville, TN but we are also open to qualified candidates that are located outside of the area. Travel is required based on the need of the business.
Responsibilities
Identify the appropriate online media outlets to reach target audiences for each book’s release and work with title marketers on the paid advertising component of each book’s strategy.
Develop and implement the Amazon campaign strategy and efforts for the fiction team:
Run all Amazon campaigns so that our overall Amazon performance meets or beats internal and industry benchmarks; monitor the performance of campaigns and stores for efficiencies – brand stories, author stories, promotion ideas, and all book Amazon pages.
Establish procedures to track and report Amazon campaign performance; manage overall Amazon budget and invoices.
Execute social media ad buys, setup target audiences, budgets, and bids – create and run campaigns on Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, X, etc.
Develop and execute multi-title programmatic digital marketing campaigns.
Ensure campaign segments, costs, audiences / audience models, and targeting are properly set-up, functioning, and optimized to run efficiently and to meet (or surpass) industry standards and benchmarks.
Execute other paid ad campaigns, including those for key backlist titles, deemed critical to the team’s success, such as seasonal, trend-based, or celebration/milestone campaigns.
Serve as the subject matter expert and day-to-day lead on all paid ad campaigns.
Create assets (graphics and/or content) needed for digital marketing campaigns.
Stay on top of digital, consumer, publishing, and retail trends, and developing and executing opportunities to improve performance and ad conversion.
Monitor and track progress of digital ad campaigns and make real-time adjustments. Provide reporting, recommendations, insights, budgeting suggestions, and performance of all paid campaigns.
Participate in author-facing calls, and webinars/trainings with authors, as needed, to explain the digital ad process.
For all ad campaigns, ensure stellar promotional copy is used/written that quickly grabs the reader’s attention, leverages trends, and incorporates key selling points of our books.
Leverage strong communication skills to collaborate with others on the team, and inform others regarding ad strategy, performance, and recommendations.
Other projects deemed necessary for the success of the team and organization.
Travel required based on the needs of the business.
Qualifications
Work Experience:
5 or more years of experience in marketing or e-commerce/related fields.
Possess deep, hands-on digital marketing campaignexperience and knowledge of running consumer-facing Amazon, TikTok, YouTube, Google, Pinterest, X, Reddit, and Meta ads, and of the advertising best practices for these platforms, in order to grow our following, reach new and untapped audiences, and convert online traffic to more book sales.
Experience with product launches preferred.
Book experience preferred but not required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, digital marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Industry Knowledge: Knowledgeable in digital marketing, keywords, SEO, and analytics best practices. Understand consumer and content marketing and product management.Skilled in design and/or video software, such as Canva, Adobe Creative (i.e. Photoshop, Adobe Express), etc.
Skills:
Strong analytical and metrics-based decision-making experience.
Proven experience with and enthusiasm for performance marketing with an emphasis on analytics.
Experience managing multiple competing priorities, duties, and/or projects.
Strong task management skills, with attention to detail. Possess the skills to self-manage, set priorities, and problem solve.
Must be able to work independently, based on the outlined processes and procedures of our department, in order to meet goals and deadlines.
Skilled in video and graphic design and applicable programs, i.e., Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, and other Adobe Creative Suite applications.
Successfully works cross-functionally with various members throughout a collaborative organization and has a willingness to help.
Possess strong communication skills to articulate needs and effectively explain complex, and sometimes technical, information down to a digestible level – this could include reporting, presenting, providing status updates, and interacting internally and externally.
Strong proficiency in Outlook, Excel and other Microsoft and Office applications.
Utilitarian experience of metadata, keywords, and SEO practices as they related to paid advertising campaigns.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
