Copeland is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel / Associate General Counsel legal assistant to support the Commercial business effectively manage legal support in matters that the business needs. In this role, you will be integral to the success of our legal team and responsible for providing legal services to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.

AS SENIOR COUNSEL/ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL, YOU WILL:

  • Learn and understand the business, products, and markets to effectively draft, review and negotiate legal documents, such as agreements for product sales, software licensing, confidentiality, service, development, distributor and OEMs to drive progress towards our standard terms in the region.

  • Improve business processes using strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

  • Provide strategic legal advice and analysis for internal stakeholders and interpretation of legal matters, including the application of law.

  • Keep up with current changes of all relevant areas of laws and regulations and contribute to the enhancement of the knowledge base of the company’s legal function.

  • Provide legal support on any other matters that the business or legal function may need, including product safety and real estate.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations, and other formalities.

  • Develop proactive templates, toolkits, and training on various legal topics.

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and lead the resolution of customers' disputes.

Flexible Work Schedule - Remote Work Option and Core Hours:

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

  • Experience in commercial counsel role whether in-house or in private practice, experience with large complex projects an asset.

  • Prior experience collaborating with cross functional teams

  • Strong work ethic, superior organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment under time constraints.

  • Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, within the legal team, with other functions and with the business.

  • Demonstrated commitment to centering diversity and equity in executing key responsibilities.

  • Excellent judgment, strong communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple groups and functions.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to effectively balance issues and projects.

  • Strong negotiating skills and business acumen with both legal and financial/commercial issues.

  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
