Description

Manage safety processes and supervise staff responsible for rail and bus transit operations, operator safety, and security. Functional areas of responsibility include Rail Operations, Bus Operations, Competency Management, Regulatory Reporting, and accident investigation, working in close collaboration with the TriMet Safety Department.

This role requires being in the office five (5) days per week.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise work assignments of Rail, Bus, and Field Operations employees. Allocate manpower and materials to ensure the safe and efficient operations of Transportation Operations and regulatory compliance.

  • Implement, maintain, and manage rail and bus operations safety programs. Chair safety committee, manage state safety oversight corrective action plans, implement safety enhancements, and collaborate with stakeholders in training, operations command center, and safety departments.

  • Investigate and manage employee incidents, injuries, and collision incidents. Investigate and prepare reports for rail and bus accidents, incidents, and regulatory compliance (Rail accidents, security incidents, ) defects in close collaboration with TriMet Safety Department.

  • Prepare and implement work schedules, programs and procedures. Prepare routine and special reports of work accomplished, and time and materials expended.

  • Coordinate with Field Operations Coordinators (FOC) for special events, shutdowns, and other situations that affect Rail Operations. Ensure Safety for operators, and Field Supervisors are being considered.

  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas in order to assure clean and safe working conditions and monitor work efficiency, and promote a positive safety environment.

  • Run and participate in Emergency Operations and Incident Command during abnormal and emergent situations.

Position Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree is required with a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Transportation, or Safety being preferred

A minimum of four (4) years total credited experience.*

Four (4) years of experience as a light rail vehicle operator, Field Supervisor, Dispatcher or Controller, or a strong safety background with OSHA, Oregon OSHA, and Accident Investigation experience is required

Must have a valid driver's license in the state of Oregon or Washington, with a good driving record with no more than one (1) accident or two (2) moving violations in the previous five (5) years or any equivalent combination of training or experience.

*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range

Minimum: $89,263.00

Maximum: $133,894.00

Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
