Primary Function

​​​​​​ The Residential National Accounts Manager will develop, implement, manage, and maintain the business plan and sales strategies of the residential efforts for our wholesale brand efforts within assigned segments. This position is accountable for managing a significant current base of established home builder accounts and agreements, large contractors, home warranty, as well as the acquisition of new customers within outlined or developing segments. The National Account Manager will have a set of defined current accounts for which they are the primary account manager at the corporate level and have the support of the field sales teams to assist in the management of accounts at the regional, and divisional levels. In addition, the Residential National Accounts Manager will develop and implement plans with Regional and Territory Sales Management Teams to identify and convert identified customer groups to drive specification and adoption of our water heating products.

This is a remote position that will require the ability to travel throughout the United States up to 50% of the time.

  • Develop strategic plans, implement, and monitor sales strategies, to determine and ensure effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with Regional Sales Managers, Territory Sales Managers and Representative Agencies to execute specific, measurable channel plans.

  • Set and monitor sales targets to help lead nationwide sales team members to achieve sales targets.

  • Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.

  • Represent A O Smith wholesale brands at specific industry tradeshows, customer shows, and events.

  • Negotiate contracts and execute agreements with large customers.

  • Monitor, analyze and share performance metrics to suggest plan improvements.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual sales reviews and forecasts.

  • Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.

  • Liaise with Marketing and Product Development departments to ensure brand consistency and customer requirements are met.

  • Remain current with new product launches, corporate and competitors, and ensure sales team aware and aligned with plan.

  • Manage the corporate programs P&L, analyze effectivity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.

  • Preferred proven work experience as a National Sales Manager or National Sales Team

  • Experience in a high-performance sales team.

  • Demonstrable experience negotiating and meeting customer requirements.

  • Ability to understand and analyze sales performance metrics.

  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills.

  • Strong communication and team management skills.

  • Analytical and organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude.

  • Ability to lead and motivate team members.

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

  • Availability to travel nationally as needed.

  • Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Qualifications Desired

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and developing long-term relationships.

  • Experience with plumbing contractors, construction trade, homebuilders, manufacturers’ representatives, or wholesale distribution preferred.

  • Ability to present well and successfully manage negotiation process.

  • Sound technical understanding of plumbing and or mechanical products.

Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or training
