Salary:

$3,042.67 - $4,583.33 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

As the Research Security Specialist within The Texas A&M University System Research Security Office, you will work closely with a team of compliance professionals to help safeguard the System' s research security portfolio. You will implement research security policies, procedures, and guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of research assets. As a member of the team, you will assist in administering overlapping, multifaceted research security programs while also monitoring and analyzing security threats to provide guidance and support in the overall research security mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in administering overlapping, multifaceted research security programs according to institutional, governmental, or sponsor guidelines, policies, regulations, and laws.- Implement research security policies, procedures, and guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of research assets.- Analyze, monitor, and recommend mitigating measures.- Assist in regular security assessments to identify and address potential vulnerabilities and weaknesses.- Collaborate with internal research teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into the research process.- Compile, organize, and secure information and prepare reports, records, and communications of a confidential nature to document regulatory compliance.- Stay apprised of the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices.- Maintain compliance records.- Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience.

    Registration, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to assess unique and complex situations and recommend the most appropriate action.- Ability to recognize urgent or critical matters and respond or estate as required. - Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. - Understanding of security frameworks, standards, and best practices. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
