Registered Nurse – PCU Location: Rapid City, SD Duration: 13 weeks Description: General Information: Beds: 44 Minimum experience: 1.5 years general nursing experience Patient Types: This is a mixed acuity unit meaning there will be Intermediate Care acuity as well as Tele and MedSurg – please ensure traveler understands Direct admits, ED admits, Post Cath Lab, etc MI, NSTEMI & STEMI (IABP would go to ICU), CHF, Dysrhythmia management, Pacemaker malfunction, Epicardial pacers Backup Stroke unit and Medical Overflow Step down level experience with post cardiac/vascular, post-cardiac cath patients, post open heart surgery, post TAVR, post EP studies, post pacemaker inserti Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4 most of the time, can be 1:3 (acuity dependent) Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Skills required: PCU level RN Experience with Cardiac procedural recovery (CABG/TAVR/post cardiac cath), MI pharmacology, titratable Cardiac/vasoactive gtts (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levo, Dopamine) – please request manager approval if traveler does not have this, Heparin gtts, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes management, TNK administration (preferred) Support on the Unit: CNA (Ratio: 1:5-8, depending on shift) Charge nurse - Unassigned Phlebotomy – Yes, peripheral blood draws Resource Nurse – Occasionally Tele tech would oversee cardiac monitoring – RN would confirm strips 6a & 6p RT - yes, 24/7 Hospitalist - in facility 24/7, but not dedicated to unit Charting System/Equipment: Alaris Omnicell Floating: If yes, where: Primarily to our sister unit, General PCU – as needed Could also be floated to MS/Tele or ICU to care for PCU level patients Could be floated within scope of practice and below As an equal opportunity employer, ICONMA provides an employment environment that supports and encourages the abilities of all persons without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
