Who will you be working with?

The role reports directly to the Regional Senior Communications Director based in France and actively supports the Regional Senior Vice President and key clients on the regional (Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia) leadership teams.

Internal Wabtec Events and Communication

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and develop a strong working knowledge of the sites, products, and services in the region to provide strategic communications partnership.

  • Coordinate regional events for the company, which may include all employee meetings, people-leader meetings, tradeshows, and community or other site-specific events that help drive brand recognition and employee engagement.

  • Partner with applicable leaders to develop and manage a relevant and effective communications plan aligned with regional and company strategy and objectives.

  • Serve as the Single Point Contact for planning and management of site/state/country/regional events.

  • Support the corporate branding team in cascading brand guidelines within Wabtec and post M&A.

  • Develop and write content including but not limited to company news articles, speeches, employee communications inclusive of email, PowerPoint presentations, and videos.

  • Partner with employee resource group leads (D&I) to promote each group, ensure alignment with overall company messaging and provide strategic communications counsel.

  • Maintain regional content, applications, and micro-sites for Wabtec’s internal intranet platform.

External Interface and Communication Strategy

  • Plan and co-ordinate communications-related support for external industry events. Support logistics and execution for tradeshows in the region.

  • Support the Regional Leaders to help develop an Employer Branding strategy, liaising with HR, to support in engagement and retention of internal talent and attraction of external candidates.

  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement the regional communication strategy on Corporate Social Responsibility, identify potential engagement avenues and plan steps for deployment, in line with Sustainability Corporate Communications.

  • Lead the development of regional content for external channels (e.g. LinkedIn, and similar forums) in coordination with the corporate media relations and social media team.

  • Engage with external vendors as required.

Where is the position located? We are flexible with the location for the right candidate. You can choose to work from either of our offices in – Melbourne CBD (VIC), Keysborough (VIC) or Rydalmere (NSW)

What will your typical day look like?

You will be responsible for providing varying degrees of strategic support for the communications and regional teams that aligns with business priorities. Support includes but is not limited to employee communications, events, site communications, tradeshows, employee resource groups, people leader communications, the Wabtec Intranet, and social media.

What do we want to know about you?

  • 7 years+ of experience working on a corporate communications team within a product-based environment

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to seamlessly navigate organizational hierarchies and structures in a matrix organisation across multiple time zones.

  • Understanding of and interest in Manufacturing/ Rail/Transport industry

  • Highly process and detail-oriented with strong analytical/problem-solving skills

  • Proactive approach to communications planning and execution.

  • Strong project and relationship management skills

  • Proven ability to manage changing requirements and short timelines without diminishing quality of execution or outcome

  • Strong storytelling skills

  • Can-do attitude

  • Proven ability to work and prioritize independently; proactively manage complex problems guidance

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite & video editing and website content management platforms also an advantage
