GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Provide fire mitigation, prevention, suppression, medical treatment, and fire education at an appropriate EMS level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Respond to aircraft, structural, and other types of emergencies to protect life and property.
Drive and maintain crash/fire/rescue fire equipment apparatus.
Provide medical assistance and treatment at the appropriate EMR level.
Perform other types of firefighter duties as needed when not utilized as a Driver.
Participate in training activities, station maintenance, facility inspections, and fire prevention activities.
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Maintain inventory of extinguishing agents.
Operate and maintain the mobile tactical and ground radios in various equipment and ensure communication capabilities and procedures are properly followed.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to those with an Associate's Degree in Firefighting plus Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Operations, Driver/Operator Pumper, ARFF & Mobile Water, and ARFF experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of hazardous material (HAZMAT)
Knowledge of aircraft hazards, rescue procedures, fire fighting techniques
Knowledge of the theory, principles, methods, techniques, and practices of firefighting and rescue operations.
Knowledge of the operation of fire department communications equipment.
Ability to operate and direct others in operating under stressful and dangerous conditions.
Ability to formulate and effectively implement firefighting/emergency response plans and to direct personnel in such operations
Ability to plan, organize, and direct functions and to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Firefighting)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift 150 pounds
Physical Fitness and Agility maintenance program required
NOTES:
FLSA: Non-Exempt
An additional 56.2 hours of base will be added to the salary each month.
Initial physical agility assessment test required prior to employment.
Must obtain a favorable National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index (NCIC III) within 6 months of hire. Must maintain.
For the Veteran's preference consideration, DD214 must accompany your application.
The following certifications are required within a maximum of 12 months from the date of hire and are required to be Pro Board or IFSAC accredited:
Fire Fighter II
Airport Fire Fighter
HAZMAT Operations
Driver/Operator Pumper
ARFF & Mobile Water
State of Wyoming EMR or National Registry EMR
Security Clearance is required
