The Provider Analytics Research Scientist will be responsible for designing and overseeing research projects and developing statistical models and/or analytical tools and processes aimed at improving health outcomes, quality of care, access to care, engagement, and affordability of care for IHA members. The incumbent will be expected to work closely with various business units and sometimes lead projects and the teams related to provider profiling, network evaluation, clinical program evaluation, population risk stratification, utilization patterns, and other research topics as they relate to our strategic initiatives. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to keep up with latest research methods and data science tools and capabilities and apply new techniques as appropriate. Substantial scientific innovation is required to expand and evaluate the above-mentioned activities.
Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in a quantitative/research discipline such as epidemiology, statistics, econometrics, behavior economics, data sciences, or other related disciplines. Bachelor’s degree and an additional two (2) years of experience will be considered in lieu of Master’s degree.
Seven (7) years of research experience to include experience in a managed health care environment required.
Expert knowledge of Independent Health Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Health Rules, and Power data and structures preferred.
Presentation experience preferred.
Solid experience in the application of modern statistical design and research techniques to health-related data.
Solid knowledge of behavioral economics concepts and technics to build incentive models.
Expert knowledge of MS suite and software for statistical analysis, data mining and other tools used for AWS query and reporting and managed care principles: SQL, SAS, R, Python, etc.
Expert understanding of data warehouse and structured data models, established understanding of both medical and pharmacy data and managed care coding.
Understand value of integrating multiple data sources: understands different types of data, such as clinical, administrative and personalization, and can draw associations with this data.
Expert knowledge of healthcare concepts and methods.
Ability to lead and work with minimal supervision on major projects and oversee the work of junior analysts.
Ability to work independently on projects, ability to work on multiple complex projects at one time, ability to translate business needs into requirements and reporting needs.
Ability to work with at least one of the less common data sources such as lab results, immunization datasets, EMR data, ADT data, Aeriel, or unstructured data.
Ability to present and communicate output and analysis in a meaningful way, “tell the story”.
Considered an expert and SME in their respective area of expertise. Ability to interact with both internal and external customers and provide both results and recommendations for delivering analytics solutions with minimal guidance.

Maintain a close working relationship with Provider Engagement, NCM, PHM, PCP Value, and SCP Value Teams.
Support the development, maintenance, and issue resolution of PCP Attribution and PCP Affiliation.
Develop and assist in the development of SCP Attribution.
Assist in the development of provider related extracts.
Regularly assess best practices in regard to analyzing provider performance, how other entities are reporting, and available tools to assist in provider performance reporting.
Maintain a standardized process that will serve as a consistent method to producing Practitioner and Practice Performance Reporting for Cost and Quality of Care.
Support Transparency of practitioner related performance.
Address provider related requests that pertain to efficiency and effectiveness performance.
Support provider related regulatory, portal metrics, contracts, special arrangements, and incentives.
Work with other informatics teams to establish data lineages and relationships as they pertain to provider level datasets.
Provide practitioner/practice/specialty trending related to the efficiency and quality of care.
Develop and maintain a standardized process for reporting practitioner related potential savings opportunities.
Develop and maintain a standardized process to analyze ROI of practitioner related contracts, initiatives, and special arrangements.
Utilize and modify the enterprise level reports to establish practitioner analytics.
Assist in the automation of all reporting.
Assist in the development of provider 360.
Hiring Compensation Range: $100,000 - $125,000 annually
Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.
In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
