Summary This position is covered under the Federal Excepted Service under Title 10 United States Code, Section 1746 and Title 5, Code of Federal Regulations Schedule A, Section 213.3106(h). Responsibilities Occupational Duties: Convey knowledge and experience regarding the planning, developing, implementing, and managing an effective systems support strategy for DoD weapons systems across a system's life cycle (concept and deign through disposal) to include: Identifying the specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program. Correlating those requirements with program plans to assure that the needed support is provided at the right time and place. Design and development, procurement, production storage, distribution, maintenance, transportation, utilization, and disposal of materials. Broad knowledge of the organization and functions of activities involved in providing logistical support. Integration of actions required of each activity into a comprehensive logistics plan in support of or to be incorporated into overall program plans. Ability to coordinate and evaluate the efforts of functional specialists to identify specific requirements and to develop and adjust plans and schedules for the actions needed to meet each requirement on time. Evaluation of plans for and provision of logistical support for feasibility, efficiency, and economy, and to develop alternatives when required. All aspects of Performance Based Logistics to include the areas of 1) determination and assessment of warfighter logistics requirements, 2) logistics test and evaluation, 3) logistics contracting, 4) configuration management, 4) life cycle cost, 5) logistics budget development, 5) basic production, manufacturing and quality assurance principles, 6) policies, processes and practices used in DoD, and 7) various types of supportability analysis. Performs other duties as assigned. Faculty Duties: Creates and/or delivers learning assets and content as needed, and coordinates with partner divisions that manage related curriculum, or that control DAU processes and tools. Stays abreast of changes and trends in primary functional area, continuously researching, gaining and sharing knowledge in federal communities of practice. Maintains digital and data analysis fluency that align with DAU and primary functional area best practices in public and private industry. Maintains currency and actively uses university technology, digital and social media platforms. Focus on the needs of the customer in a modern learning and business environment that is subject to continual change with respect to platforms, networks and delivery. Serves as a thinking partner with stakeholders and customers, continuously improving product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and service the point of need through synchronous and asynchronous methods. Builds relationships and collaborates with peers and program management leaders from all organizations within the area of responsibility. Elicits feedback to shape the policies, processes and procedures that produce a frictionless experience for the customers and stakeholders. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for this position at a respective band/grade level, you must demonstrate in your resume/application that you possess the required years of specialized experience equivalent to one band/grade-level lower (or equivalent) to include having specialized experience directly relating to the specific duties of the position, and demonstrate that you have the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully with the experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge in: Directing, developing, or performing logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission, weapons system, or other designated system. Significant experience and skill in a Life Cycle Logistics Management position that reflects the ability to integrate the separate functions in planning or implementing a integrated product support management program. Knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System, including in-depth knowledge, application and experience of the interrelationships among its elements. Experience with analyzing sustainment performance metrics. Information Technology Program Office experience. Supportability Analysis techniques experience. Product Support Management (PSM) / Product Support leadership experience. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering as applies to Product Support. Experience in Software / Information Technology Sustainment. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Education DAU Faculty Pay Band Minimum Education and Specialized Experience Requirements: DAU Pay Band A (AD-11) (Equivalent to a GS-09 through GS-13 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience: Basic requirements for Band A include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree and up to four years of experience in the appropriate functional area. DAU Pay Band B (AD-12) (Equivalent to a GS-14 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience: Basic requirements for Band B include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of six years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band B. DAU Pay Band C (AD-13) (Equivalent to a GS-15 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience: Basic requirements for Band C include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of eight years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band C. DAU supports part-time telework, but remote work and full-time telework are not offered. Final Duty Station determined upon selection. Selections may be made from any one of the three pay bands (AD-11/12/13). Initial appointment is made for a period of three years, conditional upon satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of two years. At the one year mark, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to extending the appointment; thus at any one time moving beyond that point an employee will have two years remaining.
