Job Description

This position provides leadership for a manufacturing shift at a new greenfield IKO Fiberglass Mat Plant in Chester, South Carolina, which is targeted to start up in Q1-Q2 of 2025. The Production Supervisor will have 9 direct reports and will report to the Production Manager. This position will be part of the operational readiness team while the plant is being built and then lead the production start-up on their shift, working with the rest of the team. The Production Supervisor will work/partner with all other disciplines to ensure operational goals and objectives are met. This position requires someone who is passionate about safety and has solid knowledge of high-speed manufacturing processes and can engage and motivate employees. Until the plant starts-up the supervisor will be part of the operational readiness team focusing on creating training and operational documentation and will be part of the hourly workforce selection team.

  • Promoting a strong safety culture where employees believe that all injuries are preventable. Investigate and prepare reports on safety near-misses, injuries, and workplace hazards.

  • Maintaining adherence to Company and OSHA safety standards, conduct safety workplace inspections and facilitate safety programs such as behavior-based safety.

  • Ensuring employees receive training on procedures relating to safety, quality, and production. Conduct training, cross-training, and rotation of employees for product, process, and employee development.

  • Providing leadership to motivate and inspire the primary team to deliver the optimum performance in all facets of the plant for the shifts they are assigned.

  • Working closely with other Supervisors to achieve plant targeted metrics.

  • Developing, recommending, and implementing measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Operate within standard operating and quality procedures.

  • Working cooperatively with production and maintenance teams to identify and resolve production issues in an efficient manner and assist in the resolution of quality / production problems. Identify and eliminate root causes of problems and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.

  • Evaluating team members’ performance and provide coaching and guidance to improve employee’s skill sets. Responsible for consistently administering the employee corrective action plan as needed.

  • Planning and managing scheduling for production team. Maintain employee time and attendance in Kronos. Complete shift reports.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;

  • 4-year degree in a technical field preferred or equivalent production leadership experience.

  • Experience, knowledge, or training in Lean Manufacturing and 5S.

  • High-speed manufacturing supervisory experience preferred, and fiberglass mat plant or equivalent experience would be ideal.

  • Supervisory experience of 3-5 years

  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability.

  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation and listening) and analytical skills.

  • Proven track record of operational improvement through employee engagement.

  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office preferred.
