JOB SUMMARY

Mechanical Principal Mechanical Engineers conceptualize products, provide technical leadership and drive development of a wide range of technology based products. This position will focus on Energy Storage Systems (ESS). A key job focus is analyzing technical specifications and system requirements to determine best approaches and feasibility of development within time and cost constraints of project expectations. As a Principal, you will be expected to demonstrate a level of expertise in a particular area that matches or exceeds the expertise of customers. Consults on system architectures, assess technical requirements and competencies needed during quoting and oversee design progressions during product developments. Mentors and leads others in the organization to build team members design capability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help drive the development and maintain processes and methods for product and technology architecture development & documentation, mechanical system design & documentation, and requirements engineering.

  • Define Product Realization Proposals, System Specifications, Product Architectures, PRD, MRD, design reviews, test plans, integration plans, etc., in collaboration with senior technical staff and Customers.

  • Guide and oversee the development of systems/products to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product mechanical architecture.

  • Guide analysis and simulation activities necessary to determine performance, reliability, bandwidth and other system design characteristics.

  • Help provide the lowest cost solution that meets the customer needs and expectations. Including concept, functional features, product development, components, and design process.

  • Define mechanical requirements for engineering activities in support of ESS platform and product development.

  • Guide and oversee the development of mechanical system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications necessary to maintain the consistency and integrity of the product developments.

  • Oversee product design and documentation at a mechanical system and product level.

  • Work to develop partners and suppliers, when applicable to provide the best technical and cost solution.

  • Build Jabil ESS technical and business design space competency; make Jabil experts in this space.

  • Help sell Jabil Technical Services, services and when applicable, supporting products.

  • Make Jabil shine in customer interactions; RFI/RFQ and kickoff interactions.

  • Work with peers and Engineering Teams to develop detailed product design specifications and drive implementation.

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Design Manager or Group Lead

  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Coordinates with professional networks to answer unique issues related to Industry or specific sector, regulatory and safety standards.

  • Broad knowledge developing high complexity projects that have required multiple Mechanical Engineering Design specializations or competencies: Tolerance Analysis, DFM, Serviceability

  • In-depth knowledge and use of key development tools and design standards: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, Tolerances, Advanced Manufacturing Principles, Interference Checks

NON TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Influence others and share best practices

  • Effectively communicate with good understanding of English.

  • Work as part of a global team

  • Assess a project and articulating risk while developing project milestones.

  • Develop projects in a stage-gate process (PLCQ)

  • Mentor less experienced engineers.

  • Leads cross-functional and ME design reviews

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree, in Mechanical Engineering & MS Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) plus years’ experience required, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular business hours. Some additional hours may be required.

  • Travel requirements: Domestic and/or Global, up to 20%

  • Climate controlled office environment during normal business hours.

The pay range for this role is $116,421 - $209,557. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity. The anticipated close date of this job requisition is: October 01, 2024.

As part of the total rewards package, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive based on performance. In addition, Jabil offers benefits to enhance your health, wealth, and resilient self.
