Job Description
- Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for designing, conducting, and summarizing research focused on beef cattle reproductive management.
Job Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for designing, conducting and summarizing research projects associated with beef cattle reproduction experiments and develop associated economic decision-aid tools as a result of the outcomes.
Major duties include:
Literature review
Study design
Carry out animal studies including administering treatments, assisting with research procedures, sample and tissue collection, as well as general animal care.
Data collection and analysis of tissues and samples for hormonal concentrations using radioimmunoassay (RIA) and/or ELISA, among other procedures.
Coordinate and manage tasks and timelines associated with research
Write and review manuscripts, abstracts, and reports related to research projects
Development of models and decision support tools
Supervision of student workers
Assist Project Director with coordination and management of relevant projects
Perform other job-related duties as required
Required Education and Experience:
- PhD in Animal Science or related field
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Reproduction research experience using beef cattle as the animal model
Proficiency with artificial insemination and transrectal ultrasonography
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Ability to work independently
