Who we are
The School of Architecture at Texas A&M University offers undergraduate and graduate professional programs to prepare individuals to enter the professions of architecture, landscape architecture, construction management, urban and regional planning and visualization. As the only department of its kind in the nation, The Department of Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning (LAUP) at Texas A&M encompasses an unmatched set of degree programs in three distinct, but related disciplines:
Landscape Architecture: The planning, design, management, and nurturing of the built and natural environments coupling advanced and traditional digital, virtual, and analog methods

What we want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate is expected to manage several research efforts as part of an interdisciplinary initiative aimed at establishing a new research center called C-HEaRT (The Center for Healthy, Equitable, and Resilient Transportation + Environment in Texas) at Texas A&M University (TAMU). The major goal of this position will be to work with the C-HEaRT team and its partners to facilitate team-building activities and conduct pilot/preliminary studies necessary for an NIH P01 grant submission in Fall 2025.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Other Requirements and Factors:
This job will require visiting the communities located in Houston, Dallas, and possibly a few other nearby locations, and therefore this person is required to use his/her own car and/or be able to drive a rental car for these visits.
This job will involve the use of wearable sensors and/or smartphone apps, requiring this person to wear these units and/or use his/her phone for testing.
Required Education and Experience:
- PhD in urban planning, public health, transportation, climate science, or related fields.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent management skills to coordinate and organize various project tasks (e.g. meetings, site visits, trainings, pilot studies, background research, grant writing)
Strong inter-personal skills and teamwork/leadership experience in interdisciplinary research environment
Strong data management and time management skills
Knowledge about human research protocols (e.g. IRB, survey design, Qualtrics)
Knowledge about fundamental social science research methods including basic statistical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of experimental research design and quantitative/qualitative methods.
Programming/modeling, geospatial analytical, and graphic/visualization skills.
Driver's License.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
- Project Management- Management of day-to-day project tasks. Communication and coordination with the task leaders to ensure timely completion of tasks. Timely communication of project/personnel issues and weekly progress reporting to the PIs. Assist the PIs with the budget and personnel management. Manage IRB submissions/approvals and other research compliance issues. Lead and facilitate team-building and partnership-building activities. Mentor and train student team members, trainees, and others involved in research project.
Development and Implementation of Research Protocols/Infrastructure- Lead or contribute to the development of (1) research protocols, (2) community engagement protocols, and (3) data infrastructure. Lead or contribute to the development and implementation of pilot studies. Contribute to developing pilot studies and conducting background research
Documentation, Presentation, and Dissemination- Contribute to the NIH P01 grant writing. Lead internal reporting documents required by the University. Lead the documentation and monitoring of key project activities and products. Lead or contribute to journal paper writing, postings on other media platforms, and project/research briefs. Lead or contribute to conference and public presentations, webinar, etc.
