Responsibilities You will respond to and investigate complaints while interpreting and enforcing state and federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD and Navy regulations, and installation directives, rules and regulations. You will operate electronic tactical police communications equipment, including mobile data terminals to receive dispatches, respond to calls and complete official reports. You will perform traffic law enforcement using specialized equipment such as radar, breathalyzer. You will conduct investigative stops, questions, detains, and take appropriate action to resolve incidents as required. You will perform a full range of force protection, anti-terrorism and sentry duties at installations or activities with significant operational assets, unrestricted access points, large populations onboard and around the installation/activity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing advanced aspects of law enforcement, antiterrorism, and physical security functions at military installations requiring use and deployment of specialized or advanced techniques, equipment, knowledge or training; 2) Applying standardized, optional, and innovative investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to detect, investigate, and resolve crimes and other incidents that are beyond the scope or requirements for solution on normal patrol assignments; and 3) Utilizing federal and state vehicle and crime information automated systems (i.e. OPEN FOX, National Justice Information System, National Criminal Information Center, E-Guardian, Defense Data Exchange, National Data Exchange, EFingerprint, Sexual Offender Registry, and Criminal Justice Information System). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in Police Science or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position. Successful completion of a Federal, State, county, or municipal police academy or comparable training course that included at least 40 classroom hours of instruction in police department procedures and methods, and local law and regulations, may be substituted for a maximum of 3 months of specialized experience or 6 months of general experience. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements. Are you using your education to qualify?
