Ophthalmic Medical Assistant - ( 79818 ) Position Highlights: + Position: Ophthalmic Medical Assistant + Location: Glenbrook Hospital + Full Time/Part Time: Full-time + Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30 PM + Required Travel: No What you will need: + Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent + Certification: Current CPR certifications (BLS) is required. + Experience: One-year experience as a NorthShore Medical Group (PSA) Patient Support Associate in ophthalmology department or related experience. What you will do: + Schedules in office and OR surgical procedures for ophthalmology general, pediatrics, cornea and external disease, retina, LASIK, glaucoma, neuro ophthalmology and oculoplastic. + Follows established systems and processes and create new work-flows as needed related to scheduling. + Communicates effectively with physicians, technicians/nurses, front office staff in and out of the department. + Demonstrates strong organizational skills and oversight over all NorthShore Medical Group (NSMG) ophthalmology locations. + Communicates effectively with patients answering questions and concerns as per physician and department directives. + Educates patients on basic ocular anatomy and physiology as pertaining to ocular surgeries in multiple subspecialties. + Demonstrates strong knowledge of diagnostic testing and procedures associated with ocular surgeries. + Communicates effectively with outside vendors and representatives as to the needs of NSMG physicians; assists in ordering/procurement of special instruments, drugs, lenses, glasses etc. as pertaining to ocular surgeries. + Creates educational tools as needed for patient education.
