Bureau of Land Management Natural Resources Specialist (Data Manager) in United States

This position is located in National Operations Center (NOC) / Div of Resources Services, Branch of Natural Resources Assessment and Monitoring. Responsibilities Uses and tests software to compile, edit, migrate, build, and maintain an official national AIM data repository for agency and public access. Applicable software and workflows include but are not limited to: ArcGIS with versioning, data replication, and other database applications such as Survey123. Develops spatial data capture, management, and editing processes as well as workflow automation tools associated with enterprise level databases, applying advancements in technology to these processes as they evolve. Serves as a consultant/liaison to personnel performing field survey data capture and spatial data manipulation for natural source applications at multiple scales. As consultant/liaison, advocates for user's needs/requirements with management and with those responsible for computer applications/operations. Develops and implements quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) procedures, including scripting, to ensure data quality and integrity during multiple phases of data capture. Makes periodic inspections of AIM data updates and maintenance activities to determine conformance with established policies, plans, standards, and procedures of the AIM protocols. Instructs personnel in new procedural requirements for proper implementation of survey activities. For GS-12 In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is defined as experience developing and maintaining natural resource databases, data collection methods, data management approaches, and leveraging data reporting tools. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, or a combination of education and experience---courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
