Job Summary:

Performs advanced neurointerventional procedures as well as interventional radiology patient care activities and procedures for patients. Collaborate with neurointerventional and other healthcare professionals in performing various complex neurointerventional procedures, including but not limited to aneurysm coiling, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) embolization, carotid artery stenting, intracranial stenting, and intracranial thrombectomy. Provides patient care to all invasive procedure’s patients, including acquisition and radiographic care for the purpose of diagnostic and/or treatment of anatomic and physiological disorders related to their procedure. Assists with implantation of stents, coils, glue, radioactive isotopes, central lines and biopsies. Provides didactic and clinical training of new employees and students.

Position Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive care to patients undergoing complex neurointerventional procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the process. Monitor patients closely during procedures and respond to any emergent situations effectively.

Handle a wide range of interventional devices, including microcatheters, guidewires, stents, and embolic agents, with precision and dexterity. Assist with device selection and preparation for procedures.

Operate advanced imaging equipment, such as angiography systems and other specialized devices, to capture high-quality images of the brain and blood vessels during procedures. Maintains ability to calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot biomedical electronic equipment pertinent to performing invasive procedures.

Implement radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self. Adhere to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles during procedures.

Ensure adherence to rigorous quality assurance and safety protocols, including radiation safety measures, infection control, and sterile technique, to maintain the highest standards of patient care.

Prepare the interventional suite and equipment for procedures, ensuring proper functionality, cleanliness, and sterilization.

Position Qualifications Required:

Required Experience:

  • 1 year experience in interventional technology or related experience. Neuro Interventional experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy/terminology and intervention equipment

Required Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology

Training / Certification / Licensure:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the State of New Jersey DEP.

  • Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) Certified or Graduate of a formal radiation technologists’ program with RT (R) (VI certification is preferred within two (2) years of date of hire).

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) from the American Heart Association required
