GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Immunization Unit works with healthcare providers and other immunization partners to ensure the protection of Wyoming’s communities against vaccine-preventable diseases. Join our team and fulfill your passion for serving others, preventing disease, and improving the public’s health.

The Immunization Information System (IIS) Manager position is integral to the Wyoming Immunization Unit. This position oversees and manages the operations of the Wyoming Immunization Registry (WyIR).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Coordinate the operations of the WyIR and the WyIR Help Desk.

  • Monitor data quality.

  • Direct the development of training and educational resources for immunization providers.

  • Develop and provide training and guidance to WyIR Users and stakeholders.

  • Establish policies and procedures for all interactions with the WyIR.

  • Manage the contracts needed for the WyIR.

  • Complete requests for proposals (RFP) as required for contracts.

  • Stay up-to-date on IIS standards and best practices.

  • Identify areas of data and process improvement or system enhancement.

  • Review, draft, and enforce plans, policies, rules, and procedures of the WyIR, with continual assessment of their impact, benefit, and need for amendments based on performance.

  • Track and manage state and federal funding.

  • Track and report progress and issues related to achieving federal grant objectives.

  • Ensure adherence to CDC guidelines for IIS.

  • Supervise, train, hire, coach, perform annual performance management, and administer discipline as appropriate for two or more direct reports.

  • Prepare for and support the response to pandemics and outbreaks.

  • Work with the WyIR vendor and other Unit staff to identify and resolve system issues.

  • Provide customer service including regular communication with providers and other immunization stakeholders.

  • Identify and partner with key stakeholders.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and Departmental policy.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of immunization and public health.

  • Skills in personnel management, coaching, supervision, and leadership.

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws.

  • Knowledge of budgetary procedures and management of state and federal budgets.

  • Skill in federal grant writing and management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with superiors, subordinates, funding agencies, stakeholders, partners, vendors, and contractors.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize job tasks, meet required timelines, and adapt to changing demands.

  • Strong computer skills particularly Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google, and the Internet.

  • Knowledge of performance management, project management, quality improvement, and implementation/use of evidence-based practices.

  • Skills in interpersonal relationships and delegation.

  • Skills in leadership and team building.

  • Ability to identify and build partnerships with key stakeholders.

  • Skills in analytical thinking.

  • Skills in customer service.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Management)

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive work experience in (typically in Records and Data Management) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Records & Data Management Analyst

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

4-6 years of progressive work experience in (typically in Records and Data Management) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Records & Data Management Analyst
