Position Summary

The Global Technical Leader- Mechanical Engineering is a key position within Engineering Tools & Process (Central Engineering) and will be responsible for setting the global standard and strategies as they relate to Mechanical Engineering for Xylem’s products, projects, and services.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Common alignment of Xylem’s Mechanical Engineers by setting the global standard and strategy as it relates to best practices, tools, processes, and standards.

  • Establishing Xylem-wide standard components to drive productivity and cost reduction, focusing on pumps, piping, valves, fittings, instrumentation, and other items

  • Direct Partnership with Strategic Sourcing, Order Execution, R&D, and Product Management for identification and execution of Value Engineering and Procurement Savings

  • Establishing global standards for Material Master and Bill of Materials, focusing on key requirements and proper structure

  • Creation of fundamental design guides for piping, pumps, valves, and other relevant equipment and processes as it relates to discrete products and custom projects

  • Keeping Xylem current on trends and new tool and practices for Mechanical Engineering

  • Central voice of communication across Xylem for Mechanical Engineering

  • Senior Consultancy on New Product Development (XPD), Sustaining, VAVE, and critical projects

  • Key liaison with Xylem’s ITCs and engineering shared services to facilitate execution of projects, products, and programs

  • Safety- Reviewing Xylem standard products and custom projects for appropriate level of safety in the applied use

  • Compliance- Establishing Xylem’s strategy with respect to relevant codes, regulations, and standards. Senior consultancy on critical product development and custom Projects and the appropriate level of compliance

  • Up to 15% travel may be required

Job Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10+ years of project or product engineering experience preferably in water/wastewater treatment

  • Expert SAP user for Material Master and Bills of Material creation, format, and structure

  • Experience in the use of Autodesk Suite- including but not limited to Inventor and AutoCAD

  • Experience with specification and selection of rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers, and compressors

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations- ASME, ANSI, NSF, CFR…

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes.

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement methodology a plus.

Salary range:

$118,500.00 - $213,500.00
