Job Description

Purpose:

We are looking to hire a dedicated Financial Accountant I or Financial Accountant II, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This role reports to the Associate Director of Accounting and is critical in managing key financial processes, including invoice management, payment processing, and account reconciliation. The successful candidate will bring a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of financial principles to support our operations. Title and compensation will be determined based on the final candidate's expertise and experience.

Qualifications*

We are recruiting for a Financial Account I or a Financial Account II to support the accounts receivables management.

Responsibilities:

Invoice Management

  • Oversee TEES invoice collections, including tracking, reporting, and write-offs.

  • Handle invoice creation, modification, and cancellation as requested.

  • Manage working fund invoicing and document processing.

    Payment Processing

  • Receive and log all incoming payments, payroll checks, and reimbursement.

  • Identify and apply incoming ACH, wire, credit card, and check payments.

  • Handle ACH incoming funds return incidents, Wells Fargo fraud filter issues, and positive pay items.

  • Prepare bank deposits (including bank runs as needed) and record corresponding FAMIS entries.

  • Serve as a backup for wire initiating transfer payments.

    Account Reconciliation and Reporting

  • Verify daily bank activity again FAMIS posting using Laserfiche reports.

  • Reconcile clearing accounts in Cadency (suspense, income clearing, and work income clearing).

  • Monitor daily suspense report activity and clear items posted to the suspense account.

  • Post daily incoming continuing education transactions from Cvent/Modern Campus and Authorize.net.

  • Post daily FAMIS and iPayment entries.

    Customer Service and Support

  • Provide customer service and guidance to departments, agencies, and administrators on financial matters and business procedures related to accounts receivable and cash handling.

  • Create and maintain new customer numbers.

  • Review and audit accounts receivable request from outside departments.

  • Monitor and respond to emails sent to teesipay@tamu.edu and teerar@tamue.du .

  • Assist with providing access/removal of access to iPayment and offer iPayment training and resources to new employees. Update training materials as needed.

    Administrative Tasks

  • Apply and enforce rules and regulations related to business functions for the Fiscal Office.

  • Oversee TEES AR website documents.

  • Manage off-site storage files and ensure proper retention.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for a Financial Account I:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Accounting experience in a business office preferred.

Minimum qualifications for a Financial Account II:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Strong attention to details.

  • Accounting experience in a business office setting.

  • Experience within Texas A&M University system.

  • Experience with iPayment or similar accounts receivable management software.
