We are currently recruiting for an, Senior Site Water Engineer who will report directly into the Technical Services Manager, this role is being offered on a 5:2:4:3 roster.

This role is responsible for coordinating all site water management-related activities and will serve as the facilitator of the Site Water Committee, which facilitates information sharing across functions to improve water-related decision making. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of water-dedicated deliverables, including the collection and delivery of water data and provide planning direction on water impacting issues to other functions, such as water treatment planning, water conveyance planning, waste dump planning, geochemistry planning, and water collection.

A day in the life may include:

  • Implementing key Water Strategy initiatives from Regional Water Planner and Technical Services Water function

  • Risk identification and management

  • Management of water treatment planning/ performance management and implementing site water management plans

  • Regulatory licensing / compliance and reporting

  • Lead the cross functional Site Water Committee and uphold the site water governance framework

  • Identify water related risks and evaluate environmental impact events

  • Develop initiatives to improve water management outcomes

  • Make strategic and operational decisions regarding day-to-day water management

  • Lead and implement innovation projects; manage the project to budget and plan

    About you:

    You will have a proven track record in project execution and operation, have experience in the management of budgets, feel comfortable in influencing leadership teams and have an innovative and proactive mindset with strong presentation and communication skills.

    Other skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge of gold mining and processing operations and associated environmental risks and management systems.

  • Ability to demonstrate technical competence through design and/or operations experience in at least one of the following work areas: Metallurgical processing, Tailings Storage Facilities, waste rock management, water dams, water balance, water treatment, mine dewatering.

  • Experience in water management-related issues within the metals & mining sector.

  • Experience with water modeling software ie experience with GoldSim, ModFlow, or PHREEQC is preferred.

  • Knowledge of water chemistry, water treatment and tailings management strategies.

  • Technical understanding and experience of hydrology and hydrogeology including water treatment, groundwater supply, pit dewatering and mine depressurization projects.
