Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System Chief Inspector Detail Opportunity (Reimbursable) in United States

Responsibilities The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) is seeking a detailee to work with its senior leadership team to launch a new initiative designed to address some of FBOP's most pressing mission-related challenges. In the role of Chief Inspector, the detailee will serve as a senior advisor to the Director, Deputy Director, and Associate Deputy Director. The Chief Inspector will be responsible for devising strategic approaches to assessing and addressing critical challenges facing FBOP institutions, including overuse of restrictive housing, presence of contraband, and sexual abuse in FBOP institutions. The FBOP plans to establish an Office of Chief lnspector, which will be led by a permanent Chief Inspector. The detailee will work with the FBOP senior leadership team to establish the Office of Chief Inspector. The detailee will work closely with FBOP senior Leadership to: Develop long-term strategies designed to address mission-related challenges, including expanding FBOP's ongoing efforts to reduce the use of restrictive housing, decreasing the level of contraband that is entering FBOP facilities, and bolstering compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act. Serve as a key stakeholder in advancing FBOP's new date transformation initiative and leverage a wide range of data and information to support the development of long-term strategies to address mission-related challenges. Work closely with senior leadership to establish the Office of the Chief lnspector. Serve as liaison to the Office of lnspector General (OIG). Handle urgent projects and information requests on an as needed basis. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Special Conditions of Employment Section. Qualifications To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Experience investigating criminal or civil violations of law. Experience managing special projects or initiative for senior leadership, including analyzing complex problems, developing and implementing plans to address complex problems, and monitoring success of implementation plans. Experience collaborating with other federal agencies and external stakeholders. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Exceptional professional judgment Proven ability to work collaboratively with others. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle a varied portfolio and reprioritize as needed when assigned urgent items. Depending on program and office needs, some positions may require a TS/SCI clearance. Detail will last for six months with an option to extend for an additional six months. SALARY RANGE: This is a reimbursable detail assignment. Positions will be filled at the employee's current grade/step level.
