Job Title: Charge RN- Behavioral Health
Base Rate: $44.28 - $62.00
12 hr. shifts- overtime is paid after 8 hours, resulting in an average rate of $51.66 - $72.34
Job Summary: Provides professional nursing care within the Behavioral Health unit, coordinates care planning and implementation with other disciplines. The Charge Registered Nurse will be responsible for clinical and management of nursing services in area of responsibility. Responsible and accountable for coordinating and supervising the nursing care provided to patients on assigned nursing unit. Participates in establishment and implementation of Hospital and Nursing objectives and policies and procedures along with unit identified Performance Improvement Projects. Assists Nurse Manager with appropriate unit initiatives including clinical rounds, orientation of new hires, evaluation of annual staff performance, physician collaboration, educational needs of staff, participates in appropriate meetings and or committees. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.
Experience:
At least two (2) years recent experience in inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
Experience as a charge nurse, relief charge nurse, or team leader preferred
Knowledge of the principles and practices of psychiatric nursing.
LPS Designation within LA county (or within 90 days) whereby certifying RN to assess for and write 5150s within CPH during scheduled shift (For FT RNs with 3 yrs. inpatient psychiatric nursing experience).
Must be able to work under moderate stress.
Must be able handle difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks and job assignments.
Demonstrates the ability to prepare work schedules and assignments and perform the tasks as assigned.
Handles difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner.
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.
Education:

Licensure/Certifications:
Current RN license for the state of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention and De-escalation (8 hour)
OR Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299.
OR the new hire must complete AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention and De-Escalation (8 hour) offered through Flex ED, within 7 days of hire.
