Our personalized career advising and self-assessment tools help students explore exciting career paths and gain the experience they need to succeed. Recognized nationally and regionally for our best practices, we are one of the largest and most dynamic programs in the nation. Our main office is conveniently located in the Koldus Building, with the Engineering Career Services Team in the state-of-the-art Zachry Engineering Education Complex.

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Career Services Coordinator! In this role, you will:

  • Inspire and guide engineering students in their career planning, employer and industry research, and job search skills.

  • Create and innovate new programs that provide hands-on experiences and professional development opportunities.

  • Lead the way in researching and implementing cutting-edge digital methods for delivering career services, including online collaboration, live-streaming, LMS platforms, web-based presentations, and virtual instruction.

  • Collaborate and connect with employers and recruiting organizations to open doors for our students.

What you need to know

Starting Salary: $46,400/year (Based on selected hire's education and experience)

Position details : May be required to work more than 40 hours per week including some evenings and weekend hours.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years of progressively responsible professional related experience in higher education, industry or government

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent decision-making skills

  • Ability to work independently once given a project

  • Ability to manage multiple, ongoing programs and services

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than three years of related experience with Science and Engineering Programs in higher education

  • Professional experience in career services or providing academic support for career path planning in higher education

  • Some leadership experience

  • Professional experience guiding students’ career development and career decision-making Professional experience as a recruiter with talent acquisition emphasis

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office facets

  • Knowledge of Texas A&M Career Center software and operating procedures

  • General knowledge of higher education institution general academic requirements and admission policies

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

Advise

  • Advises students regarding experiential education, career development and career decision-making, and full-time employment issues

  • Promotes and facilitates the employment of qualified students in experiential education programs related to their academic major and/or career choice

  • Instructs individuals and groups in the use of career services and facilities’ computerized guidance programs

Outreach

  • Identifies employers and promotes the concept of experiential education to executives, operations managers, and human resource personnel in the public and private sectors to develop quality work-integrated learning opportunities for students

  • Provides advice to human resource and operations managers to design, develop, implement, and improve student employment programs

  • Interacts with campus recruiting managers and human resource personnel to build working relationships with current and potential employers and develop experiential education and full-time employment opportunities for students

  • Conducts outreach to publicize and educate current and prospective students and/or parents about the services of the Career Center

  • Conducts orientations to experiential education programs and other career services for students seeking to utilize Career Center services

  • Conducts career education programs, events and services targeted to the needs of students preparing to seek experiential education and full-time employment

Program Management and Development

  • Assists in developing career education programs, events, and services targeted to the needs of students preparing to seek experiential education and full-time employment

  • Recommends and/or develops new procedures for interacting with students, employer organizations, faculty advisors and other university programs as needs are identified

Operations

  • Attends student and employer sponsored events related to experiential education and career services

  • Assists with center-wide workshops and events for all students

  • Participates in professional organizations for the purpose of continuous learning to facilitate the growth and development of the Texas A&M University experiential education programs and Career Center programs and services

  • Represents the Career Center at university-wide events including various career fairs, sponsored programs for prospective students, and other events to promote experiential education and career services
